Twelfth Week Of The Year!

Trying something different and posting on time for a change, lol!

I'm weirdly excited to talk about the open air market that forms a large part of the Sea Merchant's District. While a lot of the trade that goes  on in the buildings surrounding the market is for wholesale goods, this is where the bustling direct-to-consumer heart of the city's trade takes place. Me being me, I had to talk a little about the logistics behind it all first, in order to have the area make sense in my head:

I'm thinking of eventually drawing portraits of the typical Regulator and Sea Warden, or perhaps of their uniforms/marks of office. That's for a further future installment, ofc. One thing I wish I'd had time to do this week was decorate the table on this next page, providing a d20 table of not necessarily mundane vendors PCs may encounter while navigating the market:

These vendors are all taken from my memories of the markets of Southeast Asia and particularly Malaysia that I've had the privilege to explore (even if I didn't necessarily view it that way at the time!) I'm definitely feeling a bit of extra nostalgia now that it's Ramadan. They sure don't have similarly daily, mouth-watering pasar Ramadan here where I am in the United States!

But I digress. Part of me is all "does this really need a table?" but another part of me acknowledges that not everyone shares my familiarity with the concept and may need a hand imagining what they come across. I'm also hoping to eventually expand further on these individual table entries to cover more magical creations.

I need to go start making the iftar meal for my family, but yay, we got this done on time this week! See you in seven!
